Power and Relationships
Power is a key instrument or part of any and all relationships. Whether it be a relationship between a teacher and student, or just between friends, it is there.
How is power shown in relationships? Power is shown in relationships in many different ways. The power can be shown when you see whom in the relationship has the upper hand or is in charge. An example would be a worker and his boss. They have a relationship in which the boss is in charge, and the worker must do what he says. Another way would be in how both of those in the relationship need and depend on each other. In the example of the boss and worker, the worker needs the boss for a job in order to get money and the boss needs the worker to get the job done. How can power change relationships between people? Power can be a good and bad thing all depending on what you do and how you act. It can change relationships between people for better or worse. You could strengthen or completely obliterate your relationship. It can make people change which will in turn change your relationship, and you just may not have that same connection with that person the way you used to. How can it change people?
Well, you would be surprised how much it really can. When you don’t have it you always think that, that could never happen to you, but then it actually happens. You start to think differently and you feel differently. Sometimes you start to think that you are better than others or that you don’t want to associate with others that are “inferior” to you or at least that’s what you think. This does not always happen, but for a lot of people it has a tendency to.
